Chatakpur is an eco-village where people promote organic farming and there is also a viewpoint there from where one can see a great view of the mountains across the valley. Chatakpur hike is, of course, one of the popular outdoor activities the Queen of Hills has to offer. It usually takes around 7 to 8hrs to hike through Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary. However, it varies from person to person. The sanctuary has an area of 38.88 square kilometres with an elevation of 1,500 to 2,600 metres.

The hiking will begin in the morning around 7 after having breakfast. The trail to Chatakpur crosses the Sinchel Wildlife Sanctuary thus you might come across some wild birds and animals. The main attraction of this route is Senchal Lake. You can hear the chirps of birds and the odd sounds of the cattle animals walking and lazing around the nearby dense forest. However, both hiking along the village can be done from Darjeeling to Chatakpur and as well as mountain biking can be done in the trails of Chatakpur. However, the return journey if hiking has to be done by car from Ghoom or the exit point of the Chatakpur hiking.
